FINE ART ALBUMS – What you need to know When deciding upon a supplier for my wedding albums, I looked at the available service providers and, although there are not many to choose from locally, I was satisfied that the album manufacturers I chose presents the best in terms of quality, service and support. Firstly, QUALITY – the albums are manufactured using the highest quality paper and latest technology printing processes. I am satisfied that the end product has a quality finish and that the images, although printed, has a photographic finish. This is achieved by the use of a high-quality gloss paper. The binding is sturdy and I have, so far, not yet experienced any mishap. If properly looked after, the album should last for many years. Secondly, SERVICE – once the layout has been forwarded to the manufacturers, the completed album takes, on average, 2-4 weeks to be returned, depending on the workload of the manufacturers. Thirdly, SUPPORT – I have contact telephone numbers whereby I can speak to the technicians directly should I have any queries regarding the manufacturing process. This benefit is passed onto the client.
Step 1 Choose the required number of images for your album :(to a maximum of) : 80 images for the 20-pg album, 140 for the 44-pg album The Storybook Album takes up to 150 images. Tips for choosing your images · Make sure the images covers all the events of the wedding day ie, getting ready, ceremony, couple portraits and reception · Include some images of the table settings, flowers, etc (these can be used as backgrounds) · Try not to duplicate too many images. (I once had to include 8 images of the wedding cake on one page!) This is the most common error as you may really like a sequence of images and want to include all of them, but it really doesn’t work when similar images are grouped together on one page. Also, often, a similar image taken by the assistant photographer is also used and this results in duplication when they are all put together. Before sending them off to me, group your images and look at them in groups of 3-4 images per page– you will quickly see where too much duplication is taking place. Step 2 Forward these images to the photographer. If possible, copy these images to disk and drop it off or post it to me. If this is not be possible, email a list of the CORRECT numbers, preferably, with thumbnails of the images to me. Step 3 The album is then prepared electronically. This process must be given at least TWO weeks to be completed. Step 4 You then need to make an appointment to see me so that the draft layout can be approved. This is an important part of the process as you have to be completely satisfied with how your final album will look. You will be asked to sign off the layout. At this meeting, you will be asked to check the following : i) that all the chosen images have been included; ii) there are no duplications of images; iii) you are happy with the general sequence and layout of images, sizes of images and number of images per page, as well as the choice of backgrounds used. Please note ! ..I will only make a web-based album available for your perusal if you reside abroad or out- of- town where it will become impossible and/or impractical to meet with me. Step 5 The approved and final layout is forwarded to the manufacturers. Please allow 2-4 weeks for the album to be made available. Please note that the package cost of your wedding photography does not include postage and packaging or insurance should the album need to be posted to you.
